I don't normally do these since I pretty much know I will fail at keeping up with it..but lets give it a try shall we?

I think this is probably a pretty well known fact, but here we go:

Seguchi Tohma from Gravitation

And acutally my first cosplay was also my first group cosplay. It was decided about a month before Nekocon that the whole anime club was going to dress up and Lynn (our Shuichi) suggested Gravitation since it was a show she enjoyed and actually I had just started to watch it and had instantly grown fond of Tohma. So I sent her an email asking if he was still available as part of the group even though I didn't know the first thing about dressing up. And actually the only knowledge of conventions I had was what Delilah had told me. So I was very new to the whole concept and only had been interested in anime for less then a year at the time.

But everyone would get together and work on the costumes. We found a wig at a wig shop at the local flea market. bought a winter jacket from Goodwill and added a feather boa to it. And I bought a purple sweater and painted "V"s on it to look like his. The hat came from..I believe JC Penny. It had a huge bow and flower on it that I removed (and actually still have somewhere). Add the leather pants I already owned and a pair of gloves and tada! Instant Tohma.

One of the best convention memories I still have involves our carpooling to the con center that Friday morning. We were actually staying at a hotel down the road and the morning we left we painted up our cars. There was the "Bad Luck tourbus" (Lynn/shuichi's car) and the "Nittle Grasper Tourbus" (My car) and the respective band members got in each car and headed to the convention. As we pulled into the parking lot, the registration line was lined up outside of the hotel and people started cheering and waving to us as we drove in. Fangirls even chased after our cars as we went to park and then got pictures of us as we juts got out of them. It was a real rock star experience XD

Later on we found Fansview where we located not only pictures of ourselves..but pictures of our cars!! It was the most exciting thing in the world to see my car up on a website XD Apparently Fansview also approved of the NASCAR memorabilia on my car because he remarked upon it on the site.

And ever since that first convention the name has stuck. Not that I mind, since it is full of a lot of really great college, convention, and friend memories ^_^

Those are great pictures, though it is horrifying to see myself. You and Nori-chan look amazing though. And Shuuichi and Sakano costumes are SO nostalgic!

*rolls around in happy nostalgia for a while*

The feet were easy cause it was almost all one step, since Lynn kept it easy for everyone who had trouble.

My first cosplay was Kouji from Fushigi Yuugi and Colleen was Tasuki and we went to Katsucon. :)

Man, I think I was at this Nekocon because I remember your Seguchi costume...I mean it's where your lj name comes from! I distinctly remember the feather boa!

Awww..thats a great first costume. I totally approve XD!!

It was..Nekocon 2002. Sonnet was there because she was our Fujisaki. I do know that I wore this costume to Katsucon 2003 and I roomed with Sonnet and Laura and you all I believe ^^

That was it! It was right before I left for Japan and I got the flu the last day of Katsu when we were snowed in. It's also where I met a Touga cosplayer who sent me roses and called me his Utena. XD I don't recommend dating Touga cosplayers...they emulate Touga too much.

I think that first amazing convention really is what made cosplay such an obsession. After that there was no turning back XD

Man, the early days of cons are so different from today. I can't remember the last time I had a full car of people and ONE costume for a con vs. the half-wardrobe I bring now. We would cram ourselves into my friend's van and drive for hours upon hours, but it only felt like a short time. I miss it so much! It's not the same when you drive by yourself. Although I do like having total control over the radio. XD
