Still Good

Got my results from my CT scan and all is well. But my stupid port hasn't been giving any blood so on Monday and today they had to take the blood out of my arm. UGGG. At least I refrained from kicking the CT machine when they stuck me.

I'm having the port removed on the 22nd. The monday after Momocon..so I guess I won't be staying too late on Sunday since I have to be at the hospitol at 9AM. I told my doctor I wanted it out before I lost Medicaid..which I am afraid is probably going to happen. And he agreed, might not have been happy about it because it has only been a year and technically its a 2 year relapse chance..but I can't take the chance of having to pay for the surgery out of pocket. So it's coming out. I'm kind of relieved about it..and kind of not. Because it means all bloodwork is going to come out of my arm from now on..and I so don't like that.

But I will no longer have an alien portal in my chest and I suppose that is a good thing. And as long as the cancer doesn't come back I don't need it anyway..so..here is hoping.

And that was my day. I also realized today just how much shit I have to get done by Momocon. Wheee...

Well...at least you didn't pass out. Or is that with something else?

That was when they injected the radioactive sugar. So yes..I suppose not passing out is a step in the right direction XD

Exactly what is your port? You always mentioned port-flushes, so I kinda get that it's something to put a tube in, but other than that, it's all unknown to me.

But love and <3's to your CT scan coming back normal and here's to hoping Tohma is cancer-free for good.

My power port is a little device in my chest that they stick with a needle and would give me my chemotheraphy through. It has a tube that is connected to an artery that would take the medicine straight to my heart. After my chemo was done it needed to be flushed every 6 weeks just so it wouldn't clog up or whatever.

Here is what it looks like (well...what you can see of it)
This is what it looked like when it was first put in: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/tohma/portstiches.jpg

This is what it looks like now, with some lines to help XD

Those stitches look like they hurt :x How do they remove and disconnect it from the artery? Is it going to be a quick procedure or is it going to leave you sore?

I think it took less then an hour to put it in. Can't imagine it will take more then that to take it out.

Taking the stitches out hurt like HELL last time. I am not looking forward to that...

I hate blood being taken. :| I HATE needles. EVIL experience when I was younger. Though I have to have my blood drawn every three months. >|

But YAY FOR STILL BEING CANCER FREE! :D <3

I am so happy you're still doing well. That is the best news. ^_^

Having blood drawn and dealing with the needles is never an easy or fun thing, but I think you've held up really well throughout all this.

I can't wait to see you at Animazement! ^____^
