Katsucon 2010 Part I

tohma2004Let me start off by saying..I am sick. Incredibly. Conjested, headache, miserable. I called out from work today..which is BIG for me.
Anyway..at least the beginning of my con report..(and I don't know why the pictures are sideways...Photobucket is stupid)
Thursday
We were on the road by 7:30 AM and on our way to Richmond to pick up Jensen. I had my entire butt cape to sew for the trip. I managed to finish it by the time we were out of NC. There wasn't a single snow pile the whole way up. We tried to stop at McDonalds bor lunch but they denied us. Apparently 10 is too early for burgers. We were devastated and hungry so we went a little further and stopped at Sonic and finally were able to obtain some lunch.
We crossed over the bridge ot heaven, AKA a very tall bridge over this water that takes you straight up and you think you are going up to the clouds and then suddenly you are coming down the other side. Well on the other side we finally saw snow. We got to Richmond and picked up Jensen and somehow tetrised her and her suitcase into an already full truck. We then headed to DC to pick up Becca and her "Small" suitcase. It totally wasn't small. Somehow it fit.
IN DC we FINALLY saw all this snow that people were talking about.There were cars until the snow piles and people trying to shovel their cars out from the drifts. Two way roads were now one way streets. It was crazy. We had to stop in the middle of the road to load her stuff. We crammed in and somehow headed to the Gaylord. It was pretty uncomfortable at this point but at least the drive was short.
I called Deathgod who had just arrived as well. WE hauled my stuff upstairs and I set about unpacking. Around 6:30 we headed downstairs to check out the hotel and try and get our badges. The registration didn't open until 7 so we just wandered around for awhile checking out the hotel, which was amazing. There was a fountain that had coordinating music and lights. When we first got downstairs it was playing the "Beef: Its whats for dinner" song. It was hilarious.
Around 7 we tried to get our badge only to find out that they hadn't arrived yet. That the weather had delayed them and so they wouldn't be there until Friday. But it was while we were being told this that I spotted Lionboogy and ran over to harass him. We talked about Transformers and floods and Disneyland. Because that is what this hotel reminded us of XD. EBK showed up then too and we wandered around and just talked for awhile before Deathgod and I had to go up and try and finish things.
I had some minor difficulty getting my new steamer to work but finally I was able to iron and steam all my costumes. The steamer works like magic. I'm in love. Kahn and crew called to say they had arrived so we went down and helpd carry up all the stuff. Then Rayne and I went off so I could get some Yoite pictures.
The rest of the night was spent finishing things and practicing the skit, which i got pretty quickly.
FRIDAY
Got into Jade Fai for my Lionboogy photoshoot. Spend an hour and a half in the reg line only to be given a piece of badge shaped green paper and told to pick up the real badge later when they showed up. Which would involved standing in line again. FAIL. Luckily i got out of line #2 because I have awesome Press badge prviliedges. I went outside and got some fun snow pictures with Rayne before heading back inside to find Lionboogy. Met up with him and Evenstar and had our epic fun time photoshoot full of talk of bungee jumping CLAMP cosplay.

I went up to change into Yusuke afterwards for skit practice. Practice never happened so instead I changed in Kyrie for the Umineko ACP fun times.
The umineko gathering was HUGE and everyone got to touch my fake boobs. Oh yes, that is a highlight. ANyway, Ran into Masayume and Star_Angel while waiting for the shoot and chatted with them for a bit bfore heading up to the gazebo for pictures. There I hung out with But Loire, Rukawagf and AnimeAngelBlue, because EVERYONE was involved with Umineko. Literally.
When it was done I ran off to put on the flame kimono for the contest. It was my first time wearing the whole thing since I had finished it in the car. I think it looks good but I don't actually have that many pictures of it yet to know what I need to fix on it. I ran off to stand in line for the contest and while I was in line I started to just feel Meh. I didn't really get any time to wander around because I was doing stuff all day and now I was alone and bored in line. Luckily Rayne nad Alicat showed up and kept me company. Star_angel and I managed to convince them both to enter the contest as well.
Finally around ten o'clock I got judged and was able to get out of that hallway. WE headed down to the fountain area to just have a change of scenery when I got a call from Deathgod seeing if I wanted to practice and that everyone was going to bed. I said I felt good about my part and if everyone was going to bed then there really wasn't any point. After some discussion it was decided to just get up early the next morning for practice. I was still feeling kind of meh and so I plopped down to just sit for awhile and Rayne went off to find me some food.
While I was there Lionboogy showed up and shared some of his yummy food with me and we just kind of hung out and chatted for awhile. After awhile he had to go off and do another photoshoot and we went off to take some pictures as well. Around midnight we headed back upstairs and I got changed and ready for bed.
