Keep responding to the transformers entry. I like hearing what people think ^^

But I wanted to say that I just became an internet journalist...well nah thats sounds too professional...I write for an internet newspaper. I'm their Anime person XD So I'm coming to you guys for articles that I could write about.

They only have to be short articles, but I need ideas. If you are willing to be interviewed or something let me know! I want everything from anime reviews to cosplay news to conventions to anime websites. So give me your article ideas! If you were looking to read about anime stuffs, what would you want to read about?

Here is the site: http://www.examiner.com/x-15939-Charlotte-Anime-Examiner

Visit it often cause thats how I get paid XD

But yeah, help me out! I'll do interviews, post pictures, reviews, anything. They want about 3 articles a week so I need to get a lot of ideas.

It might not be much but I'm kinda excited about the chance ^^ Call me stupid if you want XD

If you need some help, just let know. I don't know how I can help right now though.

Since we live relatively close, we could always do mini photoshoots when we get cosplays done. Then you can post the pictures. :)

That's awesome! What kind of stuff are you allowed to do? Can you do anime reviews? If you can, that would be a great way to intro shows to people. I don't know how intellectual your articles can get, but you can do interesting research like things. Ask your fellow cosplayers why they do it? You can put out a "Why do you like anime?" poll and write about the answers. You can write about what it's like to be nearly thirty and still enjoying a medium that Americans mostly think of as child's fare. You can write about psychology in mecha shows like Fafner and Evangelion. I got tons of ideas, but I wanna know what kind of articles they're looking for ^^

Ooo, yeah! If you have the opportunity to run polls those will be great because it's interactive.

Aww, that's awesome news! I'll be sure to check frequently!

Great choice of subject for your first entry! I think local anime gatherings and clubs would be a great thing to put in the spotlight. But, I'd ask any anime clubs for permission before featuring them. Some may not be able to accommodate a huge burst in membership.

One thing I would recommend is explaining the jargon more. I realize that most of the people who read to the anime examiner will be anime fans, but people who are not familiar with the community (including the newer fans) may not know what terms like Jrock, Manga, and Cosplay mean.
You may want to do an early series of "What is Anime? What is Manga? What is Cosplay? etc." Then, at the end of each of these pieces you can give some recommendations for good introductory reading/watching.

Aside from that, I'd watch what the US distributors are buying or discontinuing and theatrical releases (they're always so limited that it's easy to miss them) to keep fans updated on that. The anime news network is a great resource to research articles of that sort. I think I'd stay away from discussing things that are not yet available in the US since that can get kinda messy as far as legality goes. Once a month you could do an "upcoming releases" feature.

OK, now I'm just rambling. . . .I'll stop now!

What an awesome opportunity! I'm really proud of you! :3

They didn't want to me to an "introduction piece" as the first article that was why I did what I did. I had to get something up really quick so I didn't have much time to really get in and think about it. I really did want to go into the "what is.." thing. I'm hoping I can do that with the next articles.

Thanks for the ideas! I am definetly going to need to know a bunch of websites I can get information from. Anime News Network is a good one.

Oooooo, shiny opportunity, maybe?

Not to be all debbie-downer, but the first few sentences of the article you have seem confusing to me, maybe they're just a bit awkward? Also, "The biggest draw to these events isn’t just the prizes..." I think sounds too much like a real quick summation of the author's opinion, and was like, Oh, I think that'd be an excellent place for some quotes! Especially if you can get a couple from local cosplayers.

I agree with riventiana, ideas for articles would depend on what they wanted... Well if you're expertise is award-winning cosplayer, then it seems obvious that you would want to do articles on cosplay. So perhaps, you discuss the differences of opinions as to whether small private cosplay gathering/photoshoots, local place evens, (like the FYE), or con going are the best and why. I would also bet that people would be interested in reading technical talk about the costumes who do win awards and why (what details are best, choosing a costume, etc.). Obviously you'd have to have good pictures and good cosplayers willing to talk about their stuff. Announcing upcoming local events (for a wide range of NC) would probably be nice, as would reporting on how they fared (businesses might also want to work with you for free press coverage).

I have tons of other ideas, but many of them intellectual and a boat load of "women and anime" ideas, since I've been thinking a lot about that lately. So I don't know if that's what you're supposed to do. Really I think to myself "What isn't out there?" and so I think it would seem kinda pointless to write much about the industry as a business (licensing and whatnot) too much or too specific, since ANN will slaughter you with much better articles and you wouldn't get much traffic from that. Though a General state-of-affairs thing wouldn't be bad. And reviewers who interlink between works (read: refer to other anime that are similar and not amazeringly popular) are a rare, rare thing. Most of the reviewers I find talk about episodes as single things, or give the entire show five unremarkable sentences.

Writing editorial articles about anime that are streamed online from the companies that have them licensed (FUNimation is great about this, for example, and crunchyroll is more than half of the time legal.) with actual links to the series being talked about could be profitable. That's nothing I've seen much of yet, since the streaming you-tube-esque anime is a new convention made to battle fansubs.

Also, are you allowed to advertise? How are you supposed to draw in the hits?

Is it okay if at one point I interview you about "women and anime?" I think this would make an interesting article. Like I told Dee, they didn't really specify what I couldn't do. I pretty much can do whatever I feel like writing about. I had to get that first article up within 3 days so I didn't have much time to really do anything with it. I figured the FYE thing was fast and easy since I had been to them before. The article only had to be 150 words so I was basically just trying to come up with something fast and relevant to the Charlotte area.

They want it to focus on Charlotte anime so events in NC will be big to focus on. And I want interviews with people from all over so I can expand it a bit.

We are allowed to link to other sites and add pictures and whatnot, so I'll look into the companies and stuff.

We can advertise, and I'll probably plug it elsewhere once I get a few articles up. I didn't want to do too much until I had something interesting up there XD

Thanks for the help ^_^

Interview=Bitch yes. Though I'm not sure how neat I could be, hot damn it's on my mind a lot lately.

I figure it's not really the time to started mad advertising, but I was curious since you're paid based on hits. Here's the FUNimation vids (http://www4.funimation.com/video/?) I referred to (though their youtube (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=FUNimation&view=playlists) is nicer, in my opinions, but not as extensive.). There are also a lot up on Crunchyroll (http://www.crunchyroll.com/library/IndexAnime), Hulu, (http://www.hulu.com/search?page=1&query=anime&sort_by=relevance&type=episode) Joost, (http://www.joost.com/epg/us/shows/animation/anime/o/channel/a-z/thumbnail/) anime News Network, (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/video/anime), 4Kids (http://www.4kidstv.com/shows), even though they suck, and Adult Swim (http://www.adultswim.com/video/index.html), who all run their own streaming stations. There are also official YouTube channels for Bandai visual (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=BandaiEntertainment&view=playlists), The anime Network, (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=animenetwork&view=videos&sort=v) KADOKAWA anime, (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=AA844FB687BA335E) sometimes english subs, and Gong (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=GONG&view=playlists).

I like your FYE article, it seems like a smart niche to cover! If you can't tell, I'm excited about your jobbage! GAMBARE!

Thanks for the links! I'll check them out.

Ping would probably be better, if you have the time and are on AIM some evening. I'm trying to be better about being signed in only when I'm at my computer, so feel free to ping away if you see me. Though e-mail is also fine if you can't catch me or want a more leisurely Q&A.
