My family always finds it terribly amusing to watch the weather or read the weather alerts. Maybe we are just easily amused but I mean...seriously...if they put any real thought into their broadcasts I think they would laugh at themselves.
First: The scrolling text
Okay yes it is annoying to begin with..but thats not the amusing part. The amusing part is this "...in the case of severe weather head inside immediatly..." Okay...so..you are telling this to all the people that are outside right now...all the people that are watching tv in their yards? Barns? cars? Seriously now...If they are OUTSIDE...how are they going to read the warning to get INSIDE? Isn't it a bit strange to be warning the people inside to..get inside?
Second: The power outages
Okay..now this REALLY amuses me. They are telling people they will keep them up to date on the power outtage situation and to stay tuned. Okay, the people who have power really don't give a shit about the status of the power outage...so who are you updating? The ones WITHOUT the power?? If that is the case..how are they able to get the update? They don't have power! So you must be telling the neighbor that has power to go out into the severe weather and let the neighbor without power know that their power will be back on soon. Perhaps they should add: "Please be careful to not get struck by lightning when you are alerting your neighbor that their power is out for a long time."
So yeah. We are the most easily amused family ever. Or maybe we just overthink things. But thats us and nothing amuses us more, then the weather.

Date: 2008-03-05 04:43 am (UTC)BTW, I have my days off if you ever want to come see me. I know you're looking for a 9-5er so if you don't have time, don't worry about it ^^ Financial security comes first! Anyway, I've got...
April 26th--May 6th (Golden Week)
August 9th--17th (O-bon)
Really these are the only times when I have a lot of days off at one time for the taking. The rest of it is Christmas and one day stuff here and there. Hope I can see you eventually!

Date: 2008-03-05 12:44 pm (UTC)Now this doesn't normally bother me if they are going to get bread and canned goods. But what I don't get is, when there is a good chance you won't have power for a while, why in the world would you go buy MILK and EGGS? I don't understand.
