Da Beach Part II

tohma2004I think I've sold the Marluxia scythe. Whoo! Just need to repair it a little bit.
And I survived my first day back to work as a waitress. Whoo hoo! We discovered last week that I can't carry the trays of food. They are way too heavy for me, so I won't ever have to worry about doing that. Tomorrow I am going to be hostess for a few hours then I don't work again until the 9th. Even if it is only a few hours it is kind of nice to be working again.
BEWARE THE PICTURES! Epicness to follow beyond this cut! Fires, Golf, Knights and Gundam MEISTERS. Yeah..told you it was epic.
Tuesday we decided to get up and actually try swimming in the ocean. First we just tried to work on our tan (didn't really work) and then after awhile we went off to battle the waves. The ocean won. There were times when the waves would pick me up and throw me back about three feet. They were crazy. We got soaked and we didn't even swim, we just stood there being attacked by the waves. It was actually a lot more fun then it probably sounds.
Then we trudged back to the cottage to get ready to go out on the town again. We headed to the strip and went to Ripley's Odditorium or whatever it was called. There was some crazy stuff in there. I think my favorite thing was the quilt of ribbons. I really want to do something like that with my horse show ribbons since all they do is lay around in plastic bags. There was also a cool mirage thing and a spinning rock walkway that was surprisingly difficult to walk through.
After that we decided to hit up the arcade that was across the street. They had the Deal or no Deal game! I played this in Atlanta a few weeks ago and it was crazy fun and a good way to get lots of tickets. I screwed up the first game but the second time I played I got 100+ so that was cool. There was also a Sonic game that on my first play I got about 30 tickets XD The game quickly became Kakyou's nemisis however, until she used her last quarter and won some crazy amount of tickets. It was like 80 or something. We played lots of skee ball and then cashed in our tickets. I got a Myrtle Beach mug. It was a lot of fun. I love arcades *_*
Then we started to walk down the street and two seperate venders tried to sell us some sketchy items. Apparently we looked like druggies or something o_o We were slightly freaked out and as we were trying to scurry away from the 2nd guy he called us Rednecks. Which we both found rediculously hilarious because we are technically yankees and the thought of yankee rednecks just didn't compute. We went to the beach and snapped a few pictures before deciding to take the back way to the car to try and avoid crazy drug sellers.
We then drove back to Broadway on the Beach where I played in another arcade and won our new companion, BATMAN! We decided to let Batman have epic adventures and you will see his pictures probably tomorrow. We took pictures of him doing everything. It was hilarious XD
After that we got some food at the Hard Rock Cafe and spent $72 o_o Just on food. Yeah..expensive like whoa. But we each had two drinks and so it was no wonder that the combined bill was so big. After that we headed back to get ready for American Idol. We still had some time so we decided to take Batman down to the beach. I also got into my Gundam costume to try and get some sunset shots. Much hilarity ensued as we battled the wind and the waves. Then it was American Idol time! After Idol we watched more Princess Tutu before heading to bed.
Wednesday...oh the adventures. We started off at the beach again and was basically beaten up by the sand. It was so windy that you just got attacked by it. We were practically buried by the time we got up to head back. After eating some lunch we once again headed towards Broadway on the Beach. On the way there we noticed a fairly large amount of white smoke. We figured it must be a fire somewhere but didn't really worry too much about it.
At Broadway we played more MagiQuest, becoming Master Magi (and yes..Batmna was present as well). When we were done we decided to get some frozen ice. While we were sitting on the porch of the general store eating our ice a lady came up and told us you could see the smoke from the wildfire really well behind the building in front of us. We finished our ice and went to check it out. Sure enough, that small cloud we had seen earlier had grown into a much larger one. Still not too concerned with it we decided to head towards our next destination...MEDIEVAL TIMES!
I cannot express how excited I was to finally get to go. When we got there we were given our Green crown and a green tag with our table on it (#3). We both got drinks and settled in to wait to be called to the arena. We were the first section to get seated and we were in the very front row, all of which was very exciting. Then it started...and holy crap..we were the villian! How awesome is that?! The oddest part was having to eat the entire meal with our hands. It wouldn't be so bad but I have this thing about my hands and hating the feeling of them getting greasy and dirty..and yeah..lots of napkins please. Anyway, it was awesome watching the Andalusians doing the various dressage moves. At once point a guy came out with a hawk...well instead of the hawk coming back to him like it was supposed to it took the bait and went flying over our section to the top row. He had to come out of the arena to get the bird, but as soon as he reached him the bird flew back into the arena. It was really amusing and even the king was laughing XD Then the best part began..the jousting and games! I love jousting! OUr guy really played dirty XD It was great. But of course..the villian never wins which is sad. We cheered and cheered, but even we couldn't change his fate.
It was great. I would totally go back again and even knowing he is going to lose..I would still sit in the green section again XD Afterwards we got all the knights autographs. Well except for red..somehow we missed red. One of the knights liked my Transformers hoodie XD
After that we headed home. But on the way we hit some traffic...because there was a huge ass wildfire going on in front of us. Yeah..that tiny cloud from the afternoon? Now a full fledged disaster. Color us surprised. As we were stopped in traffic I tried to take lots of pictures of my first real wildfire and disaster. When we finally got back to the cottage we turned on the news to see what was going on. After that we watched Princess Tutu and headed to bed.
And then there was Thursday. This day was a little uncertain and we played it hour by hour because of the wildfire. I had no intention of leaving that day, but things kinda changed as the day wore on. When I went out to my car it was completely covered in ash. Just walking out the door made my cough really bad because the smoke and the smell of the fire was so overwhelming. We headed to House of Blues for lunch, which happened to be one of the shelters set up for people who had been evacuated from their homes. After we ate we found that the air wasn't too bad so we did another game of putt-putt golf..while the ash rained down on us from above.
This putt putt had birds. I petted them ^^. Then we went across the street and had ice cream. Deciding it was probably best to just head back to the cottage and see hwo things were going with the fire, we did just that. We finished Princess Tutu and watched the news to see what the roads were going to be like. They closed the major roads up to the one I was supposed to take home, and the news said it could get bigger...so I decided to pack it up and just leave before I got stranded there with no way out.
When I was driving I had to close the vents in the car because the ash was coming into the car through them. It was crazy. So around 6PM both of us headed out after making sure the house was put together and things were cleaned up. The road near where the fire was burning was really smokey and was bothing my throat a little. But for the most part it was an uneventful trip home. I arrived back home, safe and sound at 11PM.
It really was a great trip though..even with the wildfires o_o
