Random Musings
Jan. 24th, 2011 02:06 amSo I was laying in bed thinking and decided to just get up and jot down these random thoughts I was having.
I have never once deleted anyone off of my LJ friends list. If they were added, then they were kept..regardless of if they only post once a year, never use LJ anymore, or use it daily. Some people chose to go through and remove friends that don't update or they have lost touch with or just don't know much about..but I just can't bring myself to do that.
The way I see it, if I added you then it meant that at one point, even if it was just for a moment, I considered you a friend and I still do. It doesn't matter how often you update, having you on that list meant that you impacted my life in some way. And I appreciate that, no matter how brief or insignificant the encounter might have seemed.
A lot of people are starting to try and use LJ again, or be better about posting..while others have just let LJ slip off into the times before facebook and twitter. I personally like LJ more then either of those places. I will continue to use it until it either shuts down, or I forget how to turn on a computer.
Some recent events have gotten me thinking and for the briefest of moments I considered doing my own "spring cleaning" of my LJ. But the more I thought about it the more I didn't want to do it. I read every entry that goes through my friend page, whether it be big or small. All 115 people on my list are my friends and I want to know what is going on in their lives, that's just the way I see it.
Even if we have lost touch, or only see each other at conventions (which is the majority of my list), or seem to be drifting apart for whatever reason..if you are on that list on my profile, it means you are special to me. You are my friend, no matter how close or distant we are. We have made some sort of memories together and I will hold and cherish those memories no matter what.
So what does that mean? Well if for whatever reason, you don't want to associate with me or whatever..then you'll have to de-friend me first, because I'm not going to do it. I'll be sad that I've lost one of those precious people, but I know that sometimes people move on to do their own thing.
But to those of you that are on my friends list. Thank you. Thanks for impacting my life even just a little. Thanks for the memories and thanks for the memories we have yet to make together. I hope all of your lives go just as you want them to and you are able to overcome any hurdle that comes your way.
Thank you, my friends.
