I had a new shadow today. I went out to clean the horse stalls after my bloodwork appointment and there in the middle of the driveway was a grey tiger striped cat. Well..barely older then a kitten really. He was mewing pathetically and came right to me...which seemed rather odd since most of the strays around here run at the mere sight of a human.
So I went into the barn and put some food in Sox's cat bowl and this kitten dove into it like it hadn't eaten in days. Then while I was in the middle of cleaning the stalls it started to follow me around. I couldn't finish the stalls because the cat was between my feet the whole time. Not sure what to do I headed back to the house (followed by two dogs and a cat that is apparently afraid of no one and no animal). The cat was stride for stride with the dogs. I signaled for Pam to come outside and she brought a bowl of food (which the cat once again dove into) and some water and put the dogs inside. So I started to head back to the barn to finish the stalls....and the cat followed.
I somehow managed to finish the stalls and have yet to get rid of my new shadow. Right now he is sleeping on the mat outside the door because my mother refuses to let him in the house. My father doesn't seem to care too much. We have determined a few things:
1) had to be from a house with kids because he is overly friendly. Likes to be held/petted/paid attention to
2) Comes from a house with dogs. Most cats run from Ginji..he brushes up against him
3) Has no fear. Zippy (the HORSE) put his face right to him and was sniffing his fur and the cat didn't move
4) He had to be an indoor cat. He went right to the door. He tries to come in everytime it is opened.
So I don't know what to do...my mom thinks it will just move on to the next house or go back to where it is from. I doubt it. But even if he does stay I am afraid he is going to have to get used to being outside cause there is no way my mother will let him in.
Everytime we tried to put the dogs out to go to the bathroom he would try and get inside. I became the official door man because of the cat. I don't know whether to go ahead and name him or pray he goes back to his own home ^^;; It would be nice to have a new cat around...but my mom certainly won't accept him.
Ah well. Gave me something new to do today.
