To Biopsy or Not To Biopsy
Oct. 7th, 2008 09:33 pmI wish someone would answer that damn question. Today was anti-climatic.
Got up before the sun at 5:45. Headed to Winston at 6 AM. Got to the hospitol at 7AM and fell asleep on a bench for half an hour. The labs finally opened and got signed inand taken back for my bloodwork. Got stuck in the arm and sent on my whimpering way. Headed downstairs to Radiology and checked in. Few minutes later got taken back and was told about the dangers of doing this procedure as well as what exactly was going to be done and what drugs they were going to sedate me with and blah blah blah.
Got Stuck in the other arm with the IV. Cryed. Was escorted to the MRI room and got undressed and laid down on the table. Was sent through the machine and then laid there for about ten minutes. Then the doctor came and got me and wanted me to look at the scans.
He showed me the spots on the old scan of my lungs and then showed me the new scans saying that the spots were significantly smaller. My lungs still aren't normal but he doesn't believe the biopsy was necessary. So the IV was removed and I got dressed and went home. So I got all psyched up, scared out of my mind...and then told I didn't need it and that this was good news. Yes it is good news, thank goodness for that..but damn, how many useless trips do I have to make to that hospitol in one month? This is the 2nd one in a week.
Anyway...they are assuming the spots were an infection. My chemo doctor wants me to go back to the hospitol on Thursday to get my lungs tested and then on Monday I will go back into chemo..a slightly different chemo since my lungs are still not right..but still..back to the grind.
So there was my day. I'll see you all at AUSA this weekend thankfully. I'll leave straight from the hospitol on Thursday to Richmond. Expect AUSA posts tomorrow since I need to come up with a schedule.
