Good Ol' Saint Joe
Jan. 28th, 2008 12:08 amMy parents and I have no ties to any form of religious beliefs. She when we first heard about burying a saint in the yard of a house you are trying to sell, we laughed it off as being just another silly religious thing.
When we first moved down here my father bought several forclosed properties for really cheap. he had grand schemes of fixing them up and reselling them at more then he paid. Well, for about 2 years he has had this one house and there was never any interest in it. He finally got all the work done in it that he wanted and put it on the market but it was like it didn't exist at all.
Well...then my father decided to try the old Saint Joseph trick that he had laughed off so many years ago when he had first heard it. Apparently there is a website you can buy the little statues from, complete with instructions and the incantation you are supposed to say after you bury it. When it arrived, he did was the instructions said.
About two days later...he had an offer on the house. He accepted it and now the house is in process of being sold. Needless to say we all laughed our asses off and shook our heads in disbelief.
Doesn't mean we are going to suddenly turn religious. Just means we are going to stock up on Good Ol' Saint Joes for the rest of my fathers projects.
