tohma2004Con-report! Complete with pictures...so dial-up users beware.
Thursday
The plan was to leave at 11AM..but as always that did not occur. Cat arrived with the van around 1 and so we got packed up and got on the road around 2. Between the artist alley stuff, skit stuff, and cosplay stuff the van was packed to capacity. The ride was relatively uneventful and when we got to the con it was dark and raining and crappy.
And of course we couldn't park under the overpass because someone was already there. So we managed to get two carts and started to unload in the rain. Unfortunetly Fai was getting all wet so I had to leave it for last so the fabric didn't get all spotty. Somehow managed to get everything on the two carts and hauled them up to the room. While we were unpacking we were waiting for pizza that wa sordered but apparently they had written down the wrong room number and had gone back and put our pizza in the hot box. By the time we called and figured out what had happened and they had redelivered the pizza it was little more then luck warm, but still good. Once unpacked and fed we headed over to get our badges and see about rehearsing in the convention center since the skit involved large props.
After being told we could practice there we went back and got all our stuff and went about our first real "dress" rehersals. We got most of the kinks worked out and carried everything back to the hotel and settled in for the night.
Friday
Woke up early and started the 2 hour process of getting into Kougaiji. I got about half way dressed and Kakyou and I went down to get some breakfast. It was fairly busy but we managed to find some seats and ironically enough met up with katie and friends in the elevator on the way down. Apparently they were on the same floor my sister was staying on. Had breakfast and went back up to finish getting ready. Once again had to fight with my earring holes to reopen them, but managed to get it done. Once I was completely Kougaijified we headed to the convention center. I grabbed my artist alley stuff out of Cat's van and we started to set up the table.
Kakyou and I took the first leg of table sitting and I could tell already it was going to be slooooooow. At 12:30 I headed to my Saiyuki photoshoot..and found no one. After wandering around I finally located the Goku and Lirin in line (YES LIRIN!). They were stuck in the registration line but promised to come get me when they got out of it. As I was heading back to my artist table I encountered our Sanzo who hugged me XD.
I also got recognized a few times and one girl even hugged me. Why do people like to hug the villians? I'll never understand it. I got back to the table and shortly after that Jess and Jenn arrived in Polka and Alegretto and took their turn at the table.
As I was heading out of the artist alley the Sanzo crew caught me and we went off to get a few pictures.
This made my day ^^ I've never had a Lirin before
After that I ran into Se-chan, and together we went back to the hotel where I got changed into Hatsuharu to match her Akito. All convention I saw a Momiji and Tohru and Uo running around..but do we see them when in these costumes? Nooooooo.
We hung out for a little while and got some pictures outside
I have a very strange sunspot in this one XD!
I then went back to the table to hang out for the rest of the day. Kakyou kept me company most of the day and it seemed like she was the only one who actually could sell anything. She has some mad ninja selling skills or something o_o While there I ate some lunch and we realized that Haru is a cannibal
Finally Deathgod02 arrived and I took a break from the table to get changed into Yusuke. I told her before we left the room and no one was going to recognize me. Sometimes I hate being right >_> Some people did, and some people got it because I was standing with her. I still will not wear that green uniform XD
I sat at the table some more and then decided to just close it up because no one was around. Everyone was at the dance or bands or something and the artist alley was practically empty. We asked the artist next to us to just keep an eye on our stuff (we kept it under the table since they locked the room each night) and we headed back to our rooms. So I met back up with Deathgod and we took some pictures
We saw this and were like..hey we should have used these for Tsubasa! And so we did the Tsubasa XD
Saturday
Busy busy. First we got up really early and headed to the convention to see if we could set up our table early because we had to be at rehearsal by 10. They agreed and so we got everything set up and Kakyou agreed to sit there for us (We luv Kakyou). We then hurried off to rehearsal with all our props.
I was dressed as Marluxia and as we were getting into the elevator we heard "Marly! Marly! MARLY" We were like...oh shit fangirls. So we ran into the elevator and tried to ignore the screams as we hurried to the line. But...I was followed. They had chased us up there -_- So they got their picture and luckily were fairly unscary and left us alone after that.
the whole rehearsal thing seemed strangely unorganized. We waited forever for them to start and then we got lined up to do our practice. While lined up I had to go and hand in the music and get us set up. Then I went back to the line and had to ask two different people before they told us we could get our props. Our actually rehearsal went pretty well. I dropped my "blood" twice so there was a lot of tweaking that needed to be done before the actual performance. We were the only skit to actually get applause during our rehearsal though so we felt good about that night.
We left our props behind the stage and went back to the table. I sat for a little while but because rehearsal ran late the cosplay was so early I had to go back to the room and get changed into Fai before craftsmanship. I got dressed really quickly and went to craftsmanship judging.
On the way I spotted Masayume dressed as Sakura! So I got to grab a couple pictures with her which was awesome ^^ I can't wait to see them since I didn't get any on my camera.
Judging also started late and they kept putting people ahead of me because of panels and things that those people had to go to. I sat there a long time but got to hear a lot of how things were made. Luckily Star_Angel was in there for the first part of it so I wasn't too terribly bored. Finally it was my turn and luckily the judges were very nice and sorry about making me sit there so long. I FINALLY got to go back to the table where I relieved Kakyou so she could go to some panels.
Once 4PM rolled around we packed everything up (since there was no one to watch the table) and headed to the line up. There was already a really long line that Kakyou had to sit in, but she agreed to tape the skit for us so we are eternally grateful! We went off into the room and tried to rehearse a little but I kept getting distracted by people I knew XD
I spotted Vikki and crew. They had apparently won a hall costume award and were doing a walk-on so I got to see their awesome CCS costumes. Finally we all got lined up in order (we were #6) and waited and waited and waited for the contest to start.
When it was our turn the crowd really responded to the skit! Duo of course got a huge round of cheers when he walked on and people laughed at my "Lawyer" book. And when it was all done we got a STANDING OVATION. I don't think I've ever gotten one of those before ^^;; It was awesome. The cheers were so loud. It was great. We stashed our props backstage and went out to watch the rest of the skits.
The halftime show was pretty good and then it was onto the awards. We won Best Journeyman!! It was very exciting. We got a certificate and a CD and a gift certificate to one of the dealers (Which we gave to Kakyou for being awesome and helping us all weekend!)
Then I went to get changed into Fai #2. I snagged a few pictures in Jade before changing.
I got into Jumpsuit Fai and went to the photobooth to get some pictures with Star_angel in her Yuuko. Its funny that I have had this outfit since Animazement and these are the first pictures of it XD

Then I got changed in the artist alley bathroom into Cryptkeeper. I think this picture sums it up
People actually recognized it so it was pretty awesome. guys were like: Ah Cryptkeeper! AWESOME! I waited for Deathgod to come back but apparently there was a stabbing in the hotel and she couldn't leave. I went out to check on things and saw the fire trucks and what not outside and so I went back to the table and hung out some more. Jess and Jenn were gonna go to sleep but decided to wait since they were telling people they couldn't go in or out.
After awhile we decided to try and so we packed up and headed to the hotel. I was still in cryptkeeper but luckily I was with Deathgod who had a key and she told them that I was with her. The hotel staff was checking keys at the entrance to make sure no one who wasn't staying didn't come in. We managed to get to our room and went to bed.
SUNDAY
Got dressed as Sena and with help lugged all my stuff to the convention center and loaded into Cat's van. Went and hung out at the artist table all day, other then a few runs through the dealer's room. (I was good..I didn't buy anything). I sold a few pillows and things but it was a pretty slow day.
Had an uneventful ride hope and that was the end of another convention.
Other then the artist table being really slow, I think it was a pretty good convention.
