Last year Zippy was sore for about a month and so on whim I decided to take Hoppy to a show instead. Hoppy hadn't been in a show ring in about 6 years, and it had been almost that long since I had ridden him last since he is usually my father's trail horse. So about a week before the show I rode HOppy to try and get a feel for him again. The reason Hoppy got retired from the show ring was because he had grown sour of it and would pitch quite a fit about having to work. He is also very particular about HOW you ride. He is the type of horse that isn't afraid to start a bucking rampage if someone comes too close or you get a little too heavy on his mouth. So we went to the show not expecting to do much at all, but just wanted to have a day at the show regardless and see if we could survive the many obstacles that would present themselves to us. We ended up being the only morgan in the classes and so we expected even less (morgans generally can't compete with Quarter horses because of the way they carry themselves. Judges just don't like that style) It had been a long time since I had shown a morgan (not since the years with Thunder when I was in 4-H) and the first time in many years that I had ridden with romel reins instead of split reins. We ended up surprising ourselves (and everyone else XD) by actually winning one of the pleasure classes! Out of 4 classes we got a first, third, fourth and fifth. Go Hoppy!
