May. 27th, 2007 10:43 pmI'm back! And let me just say...Animazement=best.convention.ever. the people...the events...the friends...the artist alley...all of it
Oh yes.
1) Artist alley table = crazy successful. We made more money then we have before.
2) Masquerade. Did a skit at this con for the first time and found out that Animazement likes to do things differently. They place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in Novice, Intermediate and Advanced categories. They do NOT have a best in show award. And the prize? CASH!! And gues what...our skit got 2nd in the Intermediate category!!!!!!!!! And we scored $80! Whoot! There were at least 15 other Intermediate skits so we are totally excited XD It was a Naruto skit and I got to bring out my Sasuke cosplay ^_^ More info later!
3) Hall cosplay. I entered my Fai costume. Held on Sunday..kinda strange. The judges were costume makers that knew nothing about anime but a LOT about costumes to make things unbiased. You went in, got picture taken, took the mic and talked about how you made the costume and the judges ask you questions. Then you go up on stage and let the audience take pictures.
First..they only had two categories. beginner and advanced. Again, No best in show. Cash prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd. There were about 50 entries in all, and the entries seemed pretty even in both categories.
Second..I had NO IDEA there were going to be other people in the room. i walked in and saw this room FULL of people just wanting to see the costumes. It was insane. Then, when I was setting up for my picture the photographer got all excited and made me take 2 poses because "It looked really cool!" When I was laying out my coat XD Talking into the microphone was kind of daunting cause it is scary hearing your voice all loud over the speakers o_o'' Then the judges were very enthusiastic about my coat...so much so that they basically took me onto the stage themselves so they could see the whole back design XD I had a judge on each side of me holding my coat open as it drapped down the back of the stage. All I could see where the insane amount of flashbulbs reflecting off the wall in front of me XD
And the outcome? 2nd in Advanced!! I banked another $80!
Fai was so well received it was over whelming. I don't think I've ever had my picture taken so much in one day in my life. I felt bad for Kakyou who kept having to hold my stuff while I stood for pictures XD
Anyway..I have SOOOO much to tell about this con but I have to get up in the morning and start my first day at cracker barrel so I actually have to go to bed. Seriously. Best.Con.Ever.
