tohma2004: (now I'm mad)
This has been one of those days that you just wish would end...

I haven't been feeling well all day but i figured I could push past it and deal with the day. Well...I would have been able to if it hadn't been such an eventful and stressful day.

It started with me heading to work and about 5 miles from my exit...traffic. I come to a dead stop and we sit there for a good 20 minutes. Apparently there was a three car accident. Apparently it was bad enough that they had to detour us. So after an hour, we made it the 1 mile to the nearest exit where the whole one of traffic was detoured off onto a main street in Clemmons. I had no idea where I was or where I was going or how to get to work from where I was...so I just stayed in line and followed the stream of cars and hoped they eventually got me to work. Lucky for me, they did. But I was an hour and a half late.

Not 10 minutes after I arrive, the credit card system goes down. I spend about 1/2 a nour tyring to figure out why they aren't going through. Finally I call store support and apparently it was a corporate wide issue. Great. Do you have any idea how annoying it is to call the 1-800 number everytime someone wants to use a credit card? Don't people carry cash or checks anymore? We kept getting backed up at the register because everyone wanted to use their card. And there is only one phone at the register, so one cashier had to wait while the other was on the phone. Made for a very very long afternoon.

And of course, they always come in on their lunch hour and expect to get out of there before their break is over. Are they stupid? This one customer left the money on the counter and just left with the item she was buying. Um..hello?? We need to scan that! But no, instead she left $4 sitting there. All I knew was it was ribbon. No idea what color or how much it was...sometimes the idiocy of people amazes me.

Then I went back to the cutting counter and cut four pieces of fabric for a lady...only to find those four pieces of fabric left in a cart in the back of the store 2 hours later. It must have been too expensive or something and she didn't want to bring it back and say she couldn't pay fo rit. So instead the ticket got lost and now it will show up against me that the fabric slip wasn't resumed.

So then I measured off 36 yards of netting for this guy and as I was rolling it back up for him, the power went out. It was out for about 10 seconds before coming back on. Just long enough to screw everything up. The registers went down, controller went down, telxons freaked out. So after I finished rolling up his netting and he went to check on something I ran to the back and rebooted the controller. Then I ran to the front and restarted the registers (but by then three customers had walked out cause they didn't want to wait...why are people so impatient??) Then I ran back to the cutting counter where that guy was waiting again. He said he changed his mind and only needed 25 yards of the netting. So I had to remeasure the netting. Luckily Judy came up at that point and told me laura wanted to buy something so i had to go to the register, so actually Judy got to deal with the netting. Good thing cause at that point I was ready to hurt someone. It was 99 cents a yard...just take the damned 36 yards!!

Finally as I was getting ready to leave for the day a lady had me cut 1/2 a yard of a suede. It was a printed suede with flowers on it and was $12.99 a yard and it wasn't on sale. So she got all rung out at the register and turned to ask me why it wasn't on sale. I said because it was a microsuede print.

"But the sign says it is 30% off" She said.

My reply, "The sign says that the microsuede solids are 30% off"

She goes back to the sign and stands by the fabric rounder while I tell Carol what needs to happen with one of the fabrics that the lady from earlier had left behind. Then when I was done and was walking back to the cutting counter the lady again was like, "The sign says 30% off"

So at the end of my rope I very calmly walk up and stick my finger right under the word "SOLID" on the sign. "The sign says that the mircrosuede solids are 30% off."

"So what is this?" she asks

"That is a print. See..solids." I point to the different solids there were next to the prints on the rounder.

"Oh. Okay."

dumb. If they learned to read life would be so much easier.

So now I am home. I still don't feel good. My stomach hurts. I'm grumpy. I haven't been sleeping well. I have one more day of work and then I can relax for a day. I.Need.A.Vacation...is Yaoi-con here yet?
