Ichibancon 2011 Con Report
Okay, so Ichibancon happened! It was..kind of crazy. They had over 2000 people at it, which is double what they had last year. And the hotel was not nearly big enough once again. At least the one hallway was bigger then the one hallway we had last year.
Friday
Started out by driving to the convention in Yoite (Nobari no O). Went up to the desk to check in and was immediately found by Tigress. Got checked in and managed to score a lobby level hotel room. Excellent~ Got my stuff all unloaded in only 3 trips to the car. got mostly unpacked and went out into the lobby where I found Star_Angel. Hung out with her until Roomie #1 showed up.
Now we had some roommate craziness leading up to the convention. It was just me and Kakyou until I put out a request on the Ichibancon forum for roommates. Then the number exploded to 8..then back down to 3..until finally the day before the con I had a confirmed number of 4 people. Meant the room was a decent price and not overly crowded. Of course, both new roomies were men..which was not what I expected and I had hopes that they were cool guys and not..crazy stalker people. We lucked out! Jun and Daniel were two of the nicest, coolest people we could ever ask to be in our room.
Anyway, gave him a key and shortly after Kakyou called to say she had arrived. Got her stuff to the room and I decided to change into an actual costume. Threw on Keita (Gakuen Heaven) and went out to just run around. Decided to get some food so we drove to Chili's because it was way too far and way too cold to go on foot. Once we had eaten we headed back to the hotel which was starting to get crowded.
We went to the artist alley and I chatted with Eldanis at her wall of men table. Harassed her for awhile and then noticed the table for AMA. Went up and asked about artist alley tables and told him about how I hadn't received any kind of response to the email I had sent in November. I mentioned I was going to need a press badge and he asked what my website was. When I said I was with the Charlotte Examiner he got all excited. He said he loved the article I wrote last year and that I was part of the reason they had decided to come down to Ichibancon. I was like..whoa..dude..thats cool. So he was like, oh yeah you can have a press badge and here we will totally sign you up for your artist table right now. So Score. got my free badge and my artist table in one shot.
Technically Gakuen Heaven ends up as a 'Rhythm Game' just a..different type of rhythm XD
I screwed around for awhile before heading back to the room to get changed into Tamaki (ouran host club - zuka dress), fully intending to only wear it for a couple hours to get judged.
It got its normal Faaaabulous fans as I was walking and sitting around. Got mistaken for Peach..on several occasions which I can forgive. But many people actually did recognize it so kudos to them. Also, Rob spent much time under my skirt. We even walked down an entire hallway with him under there. Go huge hoop skirts FTW.
Welllll...minor con hotel issue number 1. The autograph line was right outside the judges room and Vic was signing autographs at the time that we were supposed to start being judged. So judging got pushed back by an hour. So I got signed in and then we went and just chilled in the lobby for awhile. Hung out with Morgan and then Quadrain and Link and Elke all showed up and got to chat with them for awhile.
During that time Quadrain decided to steal my sparkly Tamaki heels...and take pictures in them. The pictures actually seemed to come out XD
After awhile I stole my shoes back and went to get judged. Once again, A+ to the judges. They were incredibly friendly and attentive and all I could ask for in a judging session. Went to my room to get out of that dress for the night. I was in a hurry though because I had promised to go to the Soul Eater panel which was at 11..which meant I had about 30 minutes to get changed.
Rushed and put on Soul (Soul Eater), snagged a piece of pizza from Daniel who had apparently gone to Costco for dinner, then rushed off to the panel. I hadn't been to any panels so I wasn't exactly sure where the room was but when I peeked into one I suddenly heard my name being shouted..so we found the right one.
I went to sit in the back with Kakyou but they told me I had to sit up front..so I just plopped myself next to Blair and finished my pizza. Just kind of screwed around for awhile before going to bed.
Saturday
Got dressed into Fai and headed out into the hotel. I love this costume so much. I can't wait to actually finish it. After I had just entered into the lobby I got stopped for pictures and it was at this point that Aduial came up. She was just there for the day so we hung out for awhile.
My appetite wasn't very good that day but I attempted to eat a little bit for lunch. I mostly passed it off to others though. As we were getting up to start wandering around, a Tsubasa Chii found me. I was crazy excited to see a Tsubasa Chii, particularly while in my new coat. I asked if she wanted to get some pictures together and then frantically started texting around to see if I could find a photographer. Eventually Aduial walked up again and I asked her and she was happy to agree. Kakyou also used my camera to get some shots.
Found out while chatting that the Chii was actually Chiki, one of the cosplay guests and MCs for the cosplay contest. She also had been really hoping that I was bringing my Fai costume with me to Ichiban. We went outside and braved the cold for some pictures. We got some really nice ones before heading back inside. She had to go eat, so we split up and Kakyou and I headed back to the room to relax for a bit. As we were walking we noticed a rather long line forming through the lobby. As we were trying to get to our room a person..who I now assume was a staffer..asked if we were getting in line for the Vic concert. I was like.."Uh..no..our room." And pointed down the hall. She let us through to go to our room and as we were in there we could hear the noise level outside our door rising.
I stuck my head out the door and the line wrapped down the hall, along the end of the hall and then back up it. So basically we had a sea of people outside of our door. It was crazy. So we decided to just chill in the room until the line went away. This was about an hour before the concert was even supposed to start.

Finally the line faded and we were able to escape. I left my staff in the room and decided to just try and take some pictures now that most of the convention was in the main events room. As I was wandering, I noticed the Haku and Zabuza that I had seen the night before in the contest line. Their props were really awesome and I wanted to know how they had made them so I went up and snapped their pictures. I asked about the sword and it was wood and a fence post! Crazy but awesome. Apparently someone had been talking about me though because they said someone had told them that I was famous and won everything. I was like..oh boy..I is not famous! I think I kind of blushed and flailed a little at that. But I stayed and talked with them for a bit before heading back to the room to get changed.
before I could get to my room a girl ran up and was like, "Oh my god, I stalk you because you are so talented!" I was just like..holy shit. It's cool but kind of surprising XD Anyway, off to get changed!
Got into Tamaki once again and went out to chill before it was time to go to the green room. There was some confusion within the green room and I was worried about having a spot to sit that I would be able to easily get out of to get to the stage. But Bobbi and Chiki and all them took care of me and got me a spot at the very front near the stage so I wouldn't have to worry. The entire cosplay staff was really awesome.
The contest was a little late in starting but it got underway and moved quickly. But then one of the contestant fell at the back of the stage and injured himself so there was a little bit of confusion and craziness. They got him taken care of and whisked off to the hospital (found out he only bruised his foot down to the bone). Then they announced the awards after everyone was done.

There was a How you Train your Canada skit that was very cute and I enjoyed. I won a t-shirt and some dvds. A gundam seed t-shirt which I knew Star-Angel had thrown into the mix for me XD~
After that it was off to get changed out of the dress again. I got into Yamamoto (Hitman reborn) because that was what Kakyou wanted XD. Then We went out to hang in the lobby while Daniel and Jun went off to fetch food for us. Such nice boys~ XD I kept laughing at Jun because evertime I saw him he was wearing a different pair of pants. He was dressed as Ciel from Black Butler and then he would suddenly show up in windpants and a pair of sneakers..then five minutes later would be back in the Ciel pants and boots...only to be back in the windpants and sneakers.
They came back and we all set down to eat. I texted Elke to see if she would be willing to take some photos for me for the ACP contest and then while we were eating they showed up and agreed to do it so an impromtu photoshoot occurred at midnight XD There was much insanity and talk of my crotch. There was also some ghost hunting and Quadrain inch worming his way back into his room. We attempted to go to the pool for some water pics but alas..it was closed.

Sunday
Got dressed as Misaki (Junjou Romantica) and basically just said my goodbyes to everyone. Around 11:30, Quadrain, Elke, Star_Angel, Link and I all went out to On the Border for lunch. After that I made the trek home..and by trek I mean the shortest car ride for any convention I go to.
And that was Ichibancon..in brief. It really was a fun convention but it was more for hanging out then doing much. I met some really awesome people and I got to hang with awesome people that I already knew. I got to perform another ridiculous skit and Tamaki has an award now. Overall it was a pretty good convention.
