This needle was surprisingly not that bad. Okay granted I had taken medication to relax me and the spot was numbed..but still I survived with minimal wiggling. I had my bone marrow biopsy today and although I didn't see the procedure I know that it involved sticking a large object into my hip bone, which now hurts when I sit or lay on it.

Other then that the day has been fairly quite. Tomorrow and the rest of the week however, will not be.

I have Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It is cancer and it spreads quickly but there is a high success rate with a very strong chemotherepy program.

That being said, I will be headed to the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem tomorrow where I will be committed for the next few days.

Upon my arrival I will have my port installed. Then I will go through some x-rays and MRIs to check my heart and lungs and everything else to see what is normal. Then I will be taken hopefully to a room to rest for awhile before I undergo my first chemotherephy treatment as well as some iron treatment. I will spend the next two or three days recovering and being observed to see how my body responds to the threatment.

It will be a loooooong day.

In other news, my hair is going to locks of love. And I shall present you with my new do in a few minutes. Just need to go to the other computer.

OKay here we go. First the gross

Now here is my new haircut

These used to be attached...forgive how stupid I look. I had been sleeping

The cut is super cute on you! I know it's hard to make the chop but you look great and if you step out the door to embark on your adventure looking good....

You'll look tired when you come home, but it will have all been worth it and you'll feel even more beautiful!

I learned that from Carole Kneeland she's my aunt and worth googling!

Hang in there! we're all waiting at all the breaks along the way!

Oh, your hair is so cute!

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with all this, I hope the best for you (of course!) and I hope you get some time to rest in the midst of all that activity tomorrow.

Also, I have a really good friend who's a national cancer registrar and a nurse, and IF you're interested in participating in any sort of research program, she can help you look at options and find a good one. She also says that Wake Forest is a good place, which I'm sure you already knew. :) We're thinking of you all the time here, and sending lots of good vibes your way!

Wow, sounds like quite the endeavor! I wish you luck on your long hospital trip. Also, your new haircut is really cute--it suits you! Plus you probably don't have to do anything with it. It ought to be more comfortable too. Sucks that you have to get used to needles, but at least it's not so bad now. *hugs*

*hugs* I hope the treatments go well. Let me know if there is anything I can do. My mother is an RN and also went through breast cancer treatment. She would probably knows some resources in your area if you want any (support groups, financial support, etc).

The new cut looks great!

Your haircut looks really great! You made a good choice - it was so long, that would have been hard to deal with. I wish you the best these next few days, and am so glad you give everyone updates. This is all happening really fast - but now you've got some answers, are getting more, and are getting the treatment you need - that's wonderful. Everyone's pulling for you - especially your Uncle Jim from what I hear. If there's anything I can do for you, just let me know. If you need M&M's, I'm so on top of that. :P Your job: rest and fight, at the same time. Suddenly I remember when you asked me to help you walk through the parking lot at Cooperative Extension after you broke your leg. You're a tough cookie. You can do it!

Love the haircut! It's very nice and you look great. ^_^

Good luck over the next few days. Let the doctors take care of you and take it easy.

I always have my phone if you want to chat. Read some books, play some games, get some sleep.

Thanks for keeping us updated. It eases my mind. I'm sending you a card today and have a few more things up my sleeve to send. Hopefully your family can get them to you if they arrive while you're in the hospital.

I love that hair! It must suck to cut it off but you look really cute with it short.

I'm sorry I haven't said anything before, I'm always worried I'll say something "wrong", but I've been thinking of you and hoping for the best. Thanks for taking the time to keep everyone up to speed on LJ even when you probably don't really feel like it.
